Kino lies
Young man obsessively watches a girl through his camera only to realise that film is a lie and that she could not be seen with the naked eye.
Kino lies is a short fiction film about truth, lies and love, inspired by J. D. Salinger’s books. We strive to illuminate the delicate nature of emotions and underscore how reality is often a subjective construct. The camera and films serve as metaphors for subjectivity, offering a lens through which we perceive the world. Two characters in the film, Igor and Nana embody this exploration. They become vessels for portraying the fragility of emotions and the malleability of reality based on one’s perspective.
Taking cues from Salinger’s books, hiding multiple layers, we’ve placed our favorite lines in a new context. It’s a way of respecting the meaning of his words while letting them stay a mystery, open to various interpretations.
