What do you see with your eyes closed?

A short animated film ‘What do you see with your eyes closed’ was made for Island of Light festival in Smogen, Sweden. The film is about metamorphosis, shape-shifting and feeling instead of merely seeing. It takes you through the depths of imagination, where all those sea creatures reside – creatures we can never truly see but know are there as we swim and dream.

This was a collaboration with 220 children from Swedish elementary schools in Smogen and Kungshamn (age 6-12yrs). The protagonists of this playful tale are sea creatures imagined by the children, brought to life through Illustration and Animation by us.

Embark on a journey where the underwater world becomes a canvas for youthful creativity, a realm where the impossible comes to life in the vibrant animations co-created with the boundless imagination of these young minds.

We carefully determined the animation style based on the children’s drawings, preserving the whimsical lines, colors, and shapes. This intentional choice aims to breathe life into their imagination while maintaining its inherent playfulness.

The film was projected onto homes in the town of Smogen throughout the entire festival. The giant-sized projections of the creatures danced across the facades, illuminated by various lights, creating a mesmerizing spectacle for the community.
