Pop-up wall

We designed and built a temporary climbing wall placed under the Brankov’s bridge for  skate art festival Samit Nesvrstanih. This interactive installation provided both kids and grown-ups an opportunity to explore the thrill of climbing. It was a dynamic fusion of recreation and art, fostering a sense of adventure and play within the urban landscape.

This wall is a piece of playground, each hold and every route is a different way to play. Options are endless, up or down, left or right, diagonal or zig zag, it’s an open space for creativity. You pick your line and then you try and try until you finally make it. Or you don’t, that’s also cool. Mastering the chosen route or reeling in the challenge, all within the spirit of play and exploration.

The concept of placing a pop-up climbing wall in an urban space embodies a form of diy play—guerrilla making and guerrilla taking. It’s a temporary, spontaneous addition to the urban landscape, inviting people to engage with it, explore its challenges, and then, just as swiftly, removing it from the space. This guerrilla approach adds an element of surprise encouraging spontaneous interactions and creating a dynamic experience that leaves a temporary mark on the cityscape.

The project was done alongside our friends from Sektor44 and drawing was painted by local artist Army Dog.
